FINANCIAL MODELLING SERVICES
Model Development
Transparent, structured financial models for investment, financing and strategic decisions.
Financial models built for their purpose
Whether you’re preparing an investment, arranging financing, evaluating an acquisition or managing an existing portfolio, your financial model needs to answer the right questions.
At EXEMPLUM®, we develop and rebuild financial models around the decisions they need to support. We focus on clear assumptions, consistent calculations and a structure that others can understand, review and maintain.
A well-built model should remain useful after handover. It should be possible to challenge its assumptions, follow its logic and adapt it as circumstances change.

Our Approach: The FAST Standard
A financial model should be easy to understand, maintain and adapt. That is why the FAST Standard forms the basis of our modelling approach.
EXEMPLUM® is a signatory to the FAST Standard, which promotes four practical principles: Flexible, Appropriate, Structured and Transparent.
We generally build in line with these principles, while respecting established client conventions where appropriate. Standards should improve a model’s usefulness, not become an obstacle to it.
F – Flexible
Easy to adapt as information and requirements change.
A – Appropriate
The right level of detail for the model’s purpose.
S – Structured
Consistent layout and calculation logic make models easier to navigate and maintain.
T – Transparent
Clear formulas and visible assumptions make models easier to understand and review.
How we work
01
Understand
We establish what the model needs to do, who will use it and which information and assumptions are available.
02
Develop
We build the model in a structured way, working through requirements and changes with the client as the model takes shape.
03
Check
We carry out internal quality checks appropriate to the assignment, including checks of calculations, consistency and model behaviour.
04
Handover
We explain the structure and workings of the finished model so that the client can use and maintain it with confidence.
Built with the bigger picture in mind
Developing a good financial model requires an understanding of more than formulas. We draw on practical experience in investment management, financing and transactions to translate business requirements into clear modelling structures.
That experience helps us ask the right questions early, avoid unnecessary complexity and build models that remain useful as projects and requirements evolve.
Where an assignment calls for additional specialist expertise or capacity, we can draw on selected independent professionals through the Financial Modelling Cooperative.
Let’s discuss your model.
Whether you need a new financial model or want to rebuild an existing one, we’d be pleased to discuss your requirements.
